Canonical tag checker

Paste your page head to find missing, repeated or conflicting canonical tags. Your input stays in this browser tab; it is not sent to our server or saved by this tool.

Open View page source and copy the contents between the head tags. The URL is used to resolve relative references; this tool does not visit it.

What to do with the result

A canonical nominates a preferred version of duplicate content. Google can choose another URL. Use an absolute target in the HTML head and avoid conflicting declarations. A different-origin target deserves review but is not inherently invalid.

This is a check of your pasted markup, not a crawl or an index check. Confirm the original placement and inspect the indexed URL in Search Console to see what Google chose.
